CS2D General CS2D Remake - Official Map Loading & Realistic FOV CS2D Remake - Official Map Loading & Realistic FOV
14 replies Just before you see, note that this all ran exceptionally good recording this at 60 fps, 1080p resolution, also my computer is running a dual core i3 with 4 GB of RAM, and an AMD gfx card from 2012~
Now, take a look:

To answer a potential question, no, lighting won't be 360 degrees but the 120-150 that is right, you shouldn't be able to see behind you of course.
Regarding map loading, my remake can load both my maps and official maps, although my maps compress data as much as possible using run-length encoding where possible, if you load an official map it will re-save it using my format, thus taking advantage of full compression. Walking is too slow and you should zoom in a little but if you do then it wont be a remake but a ripoff. Oh and, please let us do our own trees! It looks good so far. @ Mami Tomoe: I didn't bother refining values yet that's why movement is slow, and it's only zoomed out so much because I do a lot of testing where I want it like that.
@ Masea: Do your own trees? Okay lol, custom entities, as you wish. BcY Reviewer Offline
@ Masea: Your wish is granted, happy now? Looks nice, good progress. It looks nice and all. I just dont see a reason for why someone would make another cs 2d, other than for practice of game making. @ _-098-: there are many reasons for re-making cs2d with modding being one of them. You can't edit existing weapons right now in the current version of cs2d because it wasn't designed in mind. Rebuilding the game and allowing such features is the only way possible. @ Nekomata: Thanks!
@ _-098-: as @ parhana: is saying, and before I go further, note that complete weapon modding is already in the game (you can skin/texture them, add, edit any stat, or remove any weapon), this is all server sided, so any server can have complete custom weapons to another.
There's also plans for me to implement even more mod-ability regarding entities, scripting, possibly vehicles?
Not to mention it's super optimized, using a very modern language and framework (C# MonoGame) using my own engine SharpXNA which I have been constantly updating for years.
Just so you know, it computes an entire frame at full 1080p with the lighting and everything else in the video as well as many things behind the scenes, all in under a millisecond, now get this, on a dual-core i3 processor and an AMD card from 2012~ (GPU is not really important here but thought I'd mention it), I thought that's worth mentioning because you'll now understand what potential the future holds with this. @ dcrew:i'm pretty curious. Will lua scripts for current cs2D be functional with the remake you are working on? What about map porting from cs2d to the remake? Wow it would change the dynamic a lot, i like it.
Is that supposed to work as fog of war?
Looks amazing if its. But it would be silly to see everything on the back... if you are not looking at all. so not good for competition @ parhana: Full backwards compatibility is the plan yes, as you see I already have official map loading.
@ Andrez: Not to worry, you will not see behind you, the 360-degree vision was for demoing purposes, and yes, it's fog of war, you can't see anything in the shadows. After seeing that awp i just thought:
In competitive scene, we have all scope weapons banned because they have a very high damage and are op, the only thing agaisnt them is that they are expensive.
So in order to rebalance them i just thought, you can add some "breathe-like" shaking when you zoom, i mean like in FPS you have to press a button to hold your breathe(well there wont be one here) but its much harder than some static easy shit... i mean AWP is only 1 shot to kill and you can hide and spam it.
Btw also seeing that fucking ugly dust 2 please put the best versions of the default maps otherwise they will be used forever even if they look terrible, or maybe if its on the sv i would like to be able to pick the tile from a set of 3 or 4 As Mami Tomoe: said but still the fov system is so cool. I think old maps can be remaked with balance and graphics changes. Because new enigne brings new possibilities.
