ok do you would like a side view game from DC maybe not cs(side view) how about cod4 bf2??? i think a side view game with the map editor of cs2d so that the tigers and other things be same i think the idea is good
(the cs2d-editor yust fliped to side nice)
what he meant are 2D clones of 3D games. I'm not going to do this again because it's boring to do the same thing all the time and it's not very inventive.
please try Carnage Contest if you want to play a game with side view by Unreal Software www.CarnageContest.com
I'm currently not planning to make additional games with this perspective (sidescrollers).
yeah i now soldat i played it (much) so i think that that could be a coll and much played game but with more weapons then soldat i would like it like cs or cod4 with the equipping weapons and the players size to be bigger in soldat there are way to small
No is my opinion, because it's like asking the pacman generation if they like pong or asking the playstation generation if they like pacman. I'm of the "alex the kid, sonic the hedgehog, supermario bros" generation and that really was the era of side scrollers. One of my favourite was "Zool". But times change, technology develops and what was "Oh so cool" back then is now a five minute jobbie on the PC in your bedroom using any one of the numerous "game maker" kits that exist. Nowadays, even 3D games are not that hard to make, being that there's so much of the work already done (depending on how you develop it) so games now have to diversify on a new level that's not just visual. Gameplay, longevity, plotline and addictiveness are now what programmers and game makers are looking to exploit, a fine example being the mass inception of high quality 3D MMORPGs.
In my opinion, the best games are defined as being:
1: Addictive enough to keep you playing it even after you complete it. If one round of it is all it takes to get bored, you just wasted your money.
2: A quality story strong enough to hold the players attention over the (hopefully) lengthy game.
3: Long enough the validate the £40 or whatever you spent on it. A game done in 5 days is $40 wasted.
3: Varied gameplay. Controls have to be suitably complicated (it means there's a lot of things you can do) and highly sensitive. Slow responding games suck so these are a definite fail (which is a shame because Tekken 3 would be amazing if it were just faster). Games should have multiple systems in play to diversify and keep interest.
4: Visually appealing, which is not the same as visually stunning, a game should create an atmosphere suitable to the type of game you're playing.
A fine example of all of these qualities in one game is the "Final Fantasy" series of games, my favourite being FF7. It shows how the merger of addictibility (repetative in places, yet you keep playing), variation of gameplay (with side quests, card games, weapon/magic system), longevity (can take literally months to truly complete) and suitably placed graphics (the imagery creates and reinforces the image of a vast fantasy world... well... yeah) can really create a legendary game that lasts the test of time not out of major popularity, but out of a large cult love.
