Just came to ask you all, what olympic games you really like, how your countries played, and if the US really deserves those 130~ medals
However, there's another question for you: Why is chess not an olympic game? I mean, it requires a lot of strategy, it is like hey, train your brain, because it's also a muscle.
We can't play any international sport for shit yet (cricket and rugby are not international.. Only the Aussies and Indies play along) for some reason we're second at the Olympics.
Population is not the only factor, though. Standard of living and access to sports facilities should play a big role as well. Considering that, I would say that the US got less medals than expected.
Based on Happy Camper's given site, my country (Indonesia) is at #83 out of 84 countries. That's really terrible, really. We got 3 medals which are 1 gold and 2 silvers.
Winning rugby is so freaking difficult unless you are USA
I think you're confounding Rugby Union with American football which are two different sports. USA didn't even make it to the semifinal of the Rugby Sevens* at the Olympiad.
*: A variation of Rugby that requires less players and has possibly some different rules. It was introduced only this year to the Olympic games after decades of absence.
