Maybe we can see what kind of DirectX version you're currently using it - type in Command Prompt dxdiag and paste all the following output here. A possible solution would be by running the executable in compatibility mode for earlier versions of Windows (Right-click on executable specific, Properties and there you can find the compatibility options).
