Hi,

I've recently upgraded from 0.1.1.8 to 0.1.1.9.
I had no problems with the previous server version, while after upgrade human players seem to be immortal and the server indicates "0" latency for each player.
Even when tried the game with bots, they run all over the map, kill each other, but still, since player immortality, they do no harm to human players :(.

For the ones will to see with their own eyes, the server address is s1.pifpaf.pl, default port.

Is there anything specific, apart from upgrading the cs2d_dedicated file, to do for the upgrade to work ?

I'm running Linux with kernel 2.6.22.16-4 #1 SMP.
I've upgraded glibc and libstdc++ to the latest available versions, but no luck.
I've also tried fresh server install, but still no luck.

Help greately appreciated.

ps. Another thing - I have multiple network interfaces, would be great if the cs2d_dedicated supported a parameter to indicate an ip to listen on.

[UPDATE]
I've just tried a Windows and a Linux client.
For both clients server shows "0" latency. But the interesting thing is that the player using Windows client can be killed and is vulnerable while a player using Linux client is immune!

cheers

No.

I am saying that after server upgrade from 0.1.1.8 to 0.1.1.9 the server (and Linux client - see [UPDATE] above) malfunctions but no clue where this is coming from.

Seems to me that the zero latency might be server side related, while immortality might be client side related.

cheers,

you are the first one who reports this, 0119 works fine for all other servers so this can't be a software bug.

check your Lua scripts and your server settings.

I don't know why this happens.

Thanks...

The server install is a clean and composed of the cs2d_dedicated and cs2d_0119_win.zip contents only, no lua scripts at all..., default server.cfg

Is there anything like minimum kernel version required by cs2d_dedicated ? For a reason I don't want to upgrade my kernel yet...
I've brought glibc and libstdc++ versions up to speed, but this didn't help.

I would test this, but I can't run CS2D on my Linux distro now.
Kinda sux.

The 0 latency could only be explained by you running the client and the server on the same computer, though. oO

Sounds really wierd to me.

I do know about a bug in 0118 (and maybe before, maybe after as well) that a server did no longer show up in the serverlist, but was in people's favourites, everyone had 0 ping and many joining/lagging out/inflicting no damage problems. A restart always fixed that though...

You are lucky. I am not able to launch the new sh at all, even though I am root.

In 0.1.1.8 the server once malfunctioned. Medic armor didn't heal, made the player immortal, items stopped spawning and stuff like that.

I've copied the files from the server to my desktop.

The server is running older kernel 2.6.22.16 with newer libs (glibc 2.13 + libstdc++ 6.0.14).
My desktop is running kernel 2.6.35-22 with older glibc 2.13, libstdc++ has the same version.

Funny thing is that on my desktop cs2d_dedicated 0119 seems to work fine..

Both machinces - the server and my desktop have multiple network interfaces. At first glance I had thought this could have been the reason.
Apparently the only different element is the kernel version...

[UPDATE]
Sometimes when I join the server above (s1.pifpaf.pl) using my linux client - my player is vulnerable, and sometimes immune.
But in both cases - the server still shows zero latency.

Thanks a reboot solved it

I've checked if the cs2d_dedicated allocates any semaphores/msg queues/shared mem via ipcs - but couldn't spot antything vital.

Is there an explanation why a reboot helps?

ps. Re my first post in this thread - where would be the place to ask for a feature in cs2d_dedicated to support a parameter/server var/? to indicate a single ip to listen on ?
